Here’s a list of things that have been banned in Zimbabwe following the global Coronavirus pandemic. The ban was announced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the afternoon of 17 March 2020. At the time of the ban, no Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Zimbabwe.
The president declared the virus a National Disaster.
- Independence Day celebrations
Independence commemorations are held on and around the 18th of April 2019 annually. - Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF). This is Zimbabwe’s largest trade and business expo and it’s usually held in April.
- Public gatherings of more 100 people.
- All Sporting Events. The president has said that events are banned until the government is satisfied that conditions allow. It is not clear yet if this means all events generally or sporting events attracting a certain minimum number of spectators.
Zimbabwe’s neighbouring countries South Africa and Botswana have all confirmed cases of the Coronavirus with SA topping 50 cases since 16 March.
