Sweet Voice Masters Entertainment manager, Bheki Nhlapo, confirmed reports but could not comment on the circumstances surrounding Kagiso’s death.
According to Democratic Alliance MP Geordin Hill-Lewis, the opera soloist reportedly died by suicide on Tuesday.
Kagiso, who hails from Hammanskraal joined the Sweet Voice Masters in 2003.
In 2010, he joined The Black Tie Ensemble (BTE) Incubator Scheme and went on to become a soloist for Gauteng Opera.
Colleagues and friends have taken to social media to pay tribute and express their sadness following the news of Kagiso’s death.
“Kagiso Boroko was a talented young tenor who had charm and kindness, [sic]” wrote Fortunato Mazzone on Facebook.
Cobus Venter wrote on Facebook: “Some things are simply beyond my understanding, like loosing this amazing, talented, kind-hearted legend way too soon. RIP Kagiso Boroko. You leave an unclosable gap.
