Mugabe was right to hold onto power: Nelson Chamisa

0

MDC president Nelson Chamisa says the late former President Robert Mugabe was right in saying that there was no suitable successor in Zanu-PF to the late former statesman.

Robert Mugabe, who died in September last year, infamously declared that he was holding onto power because there was no suitable person in Zanu-PF to lead the party and country after him.

At the time, his deputies were Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, but it was Mnangagwa who later replaced Mugabe following a popular uprising in November 2017 led by the military.

Chamisa, who like other MDC leaders such as Tendai Biti and the late Morgan Tsvangirai, participated in the protests that toppled Mugabe.

But speaking at an MDC function this week, Chamisa said Mugabe was right as his successor has taken the country down the drain.
