Man drowns to death after being attacked by a Hippo , body still missing: Pics. A canoe which was being used to ferry goods across Runde River capsized yesterday evening after reportedly being attacked by a hippopotamus.
The accident killed Tinashe Machikichori, who drowned in the river and was still missing by today afternoon (Yesterday). Machikichori was delivering stock to his father’s shop in Makosiya and the canoe was being paddled by two men, Nelson May and one Mabhanga who was reportedly drunk but managed to survive the tragedy.

A search party comprising the paddlers frantically tried to locate the drowned man but all in vain. There is no good bridge across Runde River to connect people travelling between Chiredzi Town and the communal lands on the other side of the river.
The low lying Chilonga Bridge gets submerged in the water every rainy season and the villagers often make use of the makeshiftboats to cross the might River. Last, year Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube promised to provide funds to upgrade the bridge. -punchstar
