Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has bemoaned lack of justice after his 15-year-old niece was r_ped and he helped ‘lazy’ police arrest the perpetrator only to be released the same day with a mere caution, 24newsonline reports.
Malema alleges that his sister’s daughter was violated and he helped police track the suspect after 2 days of manhunt only for him to be released.
“Yesterday I helped the lazy seshego police to arrest a suspect who r_ped my sister’s 15-year-old daughter after they failed to do so for two nights. What shocked me this morning is that the suspect was released on warning by a prosecutor and an officer, on the same day.” Malema said.
The firebrand opposition politician and ANC critic feels the justice system is flawed hence the need to open a case against the prosecutor and police officer. He said;
“My brother will open a case of defeating the ends of justice against the prosecutor and the officer because what they did is not within the law. Rape doesn’t fall under schedule 7 of the criminal procedure act which authorizes such a procedure.”
Many tweeps responded to these allegations citing how difficult it is to get justice for him as an influential person in South Africa, what more an ordinary person.
@TheEazyEd “That time you’re a leader of a whole political party. Imagine what is happening to ordinary people on the ground?.”
@Rhulisani, “Maybe when it hits home, that’s when politicians will be able to hear the cry of beloved SAns”
@Emmani Jose: “Imagine how we the lower class citizens feel about crime….our case would still be buried and never solved”
@Joy says, “True, in such a way that we even scared to report because the perpetrator will tell you straight that he ain’t going to jail don’t even bother reporting.”
@ Khomotso discloses that, “Every Government systems we have in SA, is bullsh_ttng, a guy r_ped my grandma 3 yrs back, he was arrested to a month now he walking around freely”.
